Windows Vista
I Bought a Packard Bell PC recently which came with Vista, do not get me started about not being able to buy a PC from PC world without having to pay for an OS you either own already or an OS you do not want, anyhoo I was not too happy with it being Vista as I am quite happy with XP but none the less I have stuck with it.
Its quite pretty I have to say, not too tellytubbies like the default XP setting was but thats pretty much the only good thing,in my experience, I can say about it. My soundcard (Audigy 2 ZSor something, the one that comes with the big box so you can plug mic`s, guitars etc etc into it) will not work in surround sound, I have the latest Vista drivers blah blah blah but although the sound works it is not surround, I gave up and I am using the onboard sound now which HA HA HA is not compatible with my speakers so I will have to buy different speakers and another soundcard.
On top of that I have just tried to install my Tascam-122l ,its an external soundcard pretty much the same deal as my audigy box and the drivers do not work, I sourced some Vista drivers from the Tascam website but after running it Vista asked for a driver disk, I don`t have one as the driver file is just an exe, and so I ended up being unable to load the driver. After much messing around I gave up but I did install the sequencer software that was included with the Tascam and guess what, yup, not compatible with Vista.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After 6 months of Vista I have finally formatted my drive and installed XP, my Tascam works my Audigy Z2 works, cod4 works and cubase le works, in fact whilst it pains me to say it (seeing as I am an MCP and a gold certified Microsoft associate) I do have to state that despite XP being a Microsoft product everything is working really well.
In my humble certificated opinion I would not bother with Vista, it all seems a little Windows ME to me so wait till the next one, XP has at least another 5 years left in it.
This "info" is based entirely on my opinion, something which I believe I am still entitled to despite planet raping corporations hijacking the tcp/ip protocol and taking over the world wide web to make them even richer.
